The Millennia-Old Mythic DNA of Eastern Craftsmanship
MythSculptor’s artisanal legacy is rooted in two iconic Chinese craftsmanship hubs: Dongyang and Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Originating from a family woodcarving workshop established in 2006, the brand draws on Dongyang’s 1,000-year woodcarving tradition. Known as the “birthplace of Chinese woodcarving,” Dongyang employs nine Tang Dynasty carving techniques to breathe primal vitality into mythical beasts from the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
Eastern philosophy
Artisans use the ancient “freehand carving” method (carving without preliminary sketches) to translate textual descriptions into dynamic totems on rare woods like rosewood and nanmu.Meanwhile, Hangzhou centers its craft on a national intangible cultural heritage—where lost-wax casting merges with modern “patternless controlled casting” technology. This fusion recreates the ritual gravitas of Shang-Zhou bronze motifs while interpreting Eastern philosophy through three-color gold inlay techniques (gold, silver, copper).
dual-origin certification
The interplay between Dongyang’s hyperrealism and Hangzhou’s surrealism generates cross-media narratives: wooden mythical beasts embedded with bronze cloud patterns, bronze bases engraved with the Big Dipper constellation, and hybrid artifacts that blend mythic symbolism with cosmic harmony. Each piece bears dual-origin certification—adhering to Dongyang’s “white woodcarving” standards and Hangzhou’s Zhu Family casting protocols—transforming them into miniature cultural totems that bridge ancient mythology and modern civilization.
